I WILL BE THERE..

A few months ago my friend Linda asked me to check out the Spring Fiesta 2012 video on Youtube because she got her little 5 seconds of fame LOL. Me being me, I did what she asked me to do and I checked out the video and from that day on I decided that I will be attending Spring Fiesta 2013 come sun, rain, tsunami or hurricane I WILL BE THERE!! I told my friends about it and shame because like a lot of people I know, they suffer from FOMO (fear of missing out), we shall be invading Wild Waters on the 21st of September.

Okay so for some of you who don't know what Spring Fiesta is, its South Africa's premier dance music festival that takes place at Wild Waters in Boksburg, Gauteng. It is an annual event that's running on its 3rd year this year.
www.facebook.com
So I followed Spring Fiesta on Twitter  and I liked their Facebook page just so I could get all the necessary information I needed concerning the event. Doing that was probably one of the best things I think I have ever done. Okay..maybe I am being a little too dramatic about it being the best thing I have ever done BUT I don't think I would have all the information I have about the event if I didn't follow them on Twitter and like their Facebook page.  Because twitter is so instant, one could mention spring fiesta and in a few minutes they would either retweet or reply to your tweet. So it make its very convenient when you have questions for them. I love their Facebook page because I get to see pictures of the previous years and I also get to see feedback from people who attended and that alone can be very influential to people like me who have never been to the event.

This clearly shows that social media plays a huge role in the marketing of events and every organiser wants their events to be a success. I so can't wait for the 21st of September, ZI ZABE ZIWA STRONG!!

Woza Spring!!!!

HELLO!!! Winter is finally over and we are 5-to showing off our flat stomachs, toned legs and muscles, that alone just excites me. It is almost that time of the year where we have parties left, right and center as a build up to the "OH SO" great South African festive season. People are hosting events everywhere and the hype around the events is so interesting, especially the manner it is carried out. It is quiet logical that if you want your event to be a complete success then it clearly means that your marketing must be on its A-game. Digital footprint is very important because it shows how clued up an organization is when it comes to new media.

One of the up and coming events people are looking forward to is the 4th Annual All Weekend Vaal Beach Party 2013 which will be taking place on the 31st of August 2013. It is called the ALL WEEKEND because there are two other events that take place on the 29th and the 30th of August being Comedy Night and the Pre-party, then the main event being the beach party taking place at the Dick Fourie cricket stadium in Vereeniging.

I personally feel the marketing of this event is good but they could improve when it comes to their social media especially on Twitter. They don't have their own Twitter account, so people cant interact directly with them (Vaal beach party marketers) on an instant platform. Twitter is such a convenient platform because it is easy, interactive and content gets viral very quickly because of the rapid number of young people that have their fingers glued to their cell phones all the time.

I guess with most events, word-of-mouth plays a huge role because the first time I heard about this event was from my friends and apparently the turn out was good the previous years, so I have heard from people who have been to the event because I've never been there myself . I hope people are hyped out about it and will go and have responsible fun there!! For more information about the event visit their website on www.vaalbeachparty.co.za and their Facebook page on www.facebook.com/vaalbeachparty
